We believe in breaking down the social and economic barriers to peace. Programmers 4 Peace hosts workshops, hackathons and events that equip individuals with the skills they need to take on social, political, and economic problems and improve lives worldwide. We encourage youth to challenge both simple and complex issues of their choice.
Our Workshops and Hackathons teach the following skills:
We believe that one of the major barriers to peace is economic instability and by teaching youth the skills they need to be competitive in today’s job market we are helping to remove that barrier.
At least half of our workshop, hackathon and bootcamp participants are female. By training more girls and women and having a strong female presence in our classroom environment we are opening up the door to get more women and girls interested in and working in tech.
Our programs are intense, we pack a lot of knowledge into a short amount of time. Our style of teaching is hands on and project based learning. We have a high number of mentors to learners and a lot of one on one code reviews. The computer science field requires lifelong learning and this is why we offer ongoing support to all of our bootcamp alumni. However, you will be amazing at how much you can learn in just two weeks. Don’t believe us? Check out some past projects from our Alumni! Christina's Project and Simon's Project are just two examples.
We are a non-profit and we believe that education should be accessible to everyone worldwide. We aim to keep our tuition costs minimal for program participants, this is why we rely on sponsorship to be able to do what we do. If your company would like to sponsor an upcoming bootcamp please get in touch with us directly. You can email brit @ programmers4peace.com
